walking lessons....

It seems like as soon as i typed...Rubi is having trouble walking...Rubi no longer had trouble walking. She now walks everywhere. I wonder how long it will take her to realize her hands don't need to be in the air to balance...

one step at a time i suppose.

Rubi likes walking so much, that when it's time to go inside for a bath...she has a bit of a meltdown...clearly Dad feels her pain

saturday at the park

Today was such a nice day we went to the park. Rubi spent most of the time on the slide. She loved crawling side by side with the other kids up the steps and down the slide.

Rubi also had her 15 month check up on Saturday...She's 25.8 lbs. and 32 inches long. We've been told she's right on track with her age, and in some areas even ahead...walking is the only issue for Rubi right now. We know she's capable, we just think she prefers crawling right now (she's an expert). Rubi also has two items that she absolutely loves...Her pink blanket that she's had since birth and a hippopotamus that is about twice her size. In fact, she usually picks up her hippo or blanket to be taken out of bed before she is. She loves school, she loves all fruits and vegetables, belly buttons, books, and shoes. Our baby is slowly becoming a little girl.

we ended the day at, where else, Grandma's house.

Rubi helping Dad put together some furniture from Ikea. We're thinking of writing to the company with our idea for a new tag line...It's so easy a baby can do it.

Peek-A-Boo

This is Rubi's new book which she picked out all by herself at the book store. She grabbed it and wouldn't let it go until we got the register. She likes it so much, it is the first book she grabs in the morning and the only book she chews on...it must be love.

Our 15 month old daughter...going on 20.

sitting on the stoop watching Daddy work on the car kept Rubi completely occupied for about an hour. She would constantly sit and stand on the steps...and look at us like "hey, i'm big now i really don't need you guys".

which was true...she didn't really need us. Until she kept getting stuck in this position. Like any good mother i took a picture and then helped her out.

book worm

Rubi loves to read...she reads this particular book so much that she recognizes certain pictures. Rubi's vocabulary is growing almost on a daily basis. Day care even taught her how to say more & thank you in sign language (she uses more a lot more often than thank you). Rubi's favorite pictures in this book are the things she sees regularly...the comb, shoes, ball, and telephone, she then points to the area on her body where those things are used.

the title of this video may as well be "the compromise". She is both crawling and walking...pretty impressive ...and yes, we encourage this behavior.

it's been awhile

This is the reason we haven't blogged in about a week. We're pretty sure she's been teething...and lets just say she hasn't been herself lately.

when two blogs collide

Finally the girls have met. At first they didn't seem too interested in one another...but after some time they began to "play" with each other.

Aniela was kind enough to give Rubi some water.

Walk this way!

Rubi is walking....YES! And it seems like she thinks in order to balance her hands must be high above her head....hey whatever works! We are all very excited about this milestone (especially grandma...Rubi can now go to claws 'n paws, as per the strict guidelines in the McCann family handbook...children must walk before going anywhere outside of the house i.e. stores, carnivals, Las Vegas,miniature golf and last but not least claws 'n paws).

new friend named kitty

Grandma & Grandpop bought Rubi a dog. I think she might be catching on that it's not real. In this video she's trying to get any kind of reaction out of her new friend. Then finally when he "comes to life" she's so excited she gives him a big hug and kiss (since kitty is Rubi's new favorite word Daddy decided it would only be appropriate to call him Kitty).
