It has been awhile since we've updated the blog (we've been a little busy). I'm hoping these adorable pictures/videos of Rubi enjoying some ice cream, will make you forget about the lack of new pictures for a few weeks.

sunshine

Finally, the sun came out. We RAN to the beach to enjoy the only sun we've seen all week. As you can see Rubi immediately had a problem with the sand.

(clean towel, no sand)

eventually Rubi decided to use the sand to exfoliate her entire body (feet, bottom, belly, face).

Dinner and cake

For Rubi's birthday dinner we went to Chuck E. Cheese. This was Rubi's 2nd time at Chuck E. Cheese, and now that she's older she can enjoy it much more.

Do not adjust your computer screen, that is Rubi running to give that giant mouse a hug.

Rubi enjoying her chocolate chip, chocolate icing, chocolate filled cake...and no, there is nothing remotely healthy about this cake. What can i say this is what she specifically asked for.

Virgina Beach Aquarium

We started Rubi's birthday celebration with a trip to the aquarium...

Rubi loved trying to find all of the seals

The only part of the aquarium Rubi didn't really enjoy was the sting ray tank.

Rubi turns TWO.

This past year has been pretty fantastic with Rubi. She has a great sense of humor, an ENORMOUS personality and she's extremely loving. The past two years of our lives have been wonderful, thanks to Rubi. No matter the kind of day I've had at work, picking up Rubi from school still excites me...as she is barreling towards the door, knocking down children in her path (this just shows me she cares). Her speech as progressively gotten better, we can now understand about 50-60 % of the things flying out of her mouth. Every night around 730 she pulls my face closer to hers to tell me about her day (this is what i assume she is saying, she might be telling me politely that i need a mint).

Rubi is now old enough for the toddler room at day-care...which is both exciting and terrifying. But we know that she is more than ready for the move. Rubi still has the occasional food protest, around every 2-3 months she won't eat anything for days at a time (although looking at her, you wouldn't think she had any problem eating).

Rubi has no problem warming up to new people..especially teenagers. She loves meeting new people, and making them laugh. Whenever we go out, she is much more interested in involving herself with the surrounding crowd, than her boring parents...which is cute, but can be occasionally awkward.

I can't imagine not having Rubi around, she makes our day, every single day...and like i said the past two years have been the best of our entire lives...thanks to little girl. We feel incredibly lucky to have her in our lives.

Happy 2nd birthday Rubi Lyn McCann.

Monday

On Monday Rubi had some more time to explore the house.

On Monday night we felt like storm chasers as a massive storm (with high winds, and tornado warnings) passed right over us...with out a drop of rain falling on our house.

We made it!

We finally made it to Virginia Beach. Rubi was fantastic the entire trip. She never cried, not a single tear for 7 1/2 hours. She did get a little messy toward the end, and decided this (above) was the most comfortable position to sit in...whatever works!

We got out of the car on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge for a stretch, which Rubi loved.

As soon as we got to the house Rubi started to explore her new surroundings.
