she cuddles!

as you can see Rubi has now perfected her "cheese" face.

Yes dinner always ends with a piece of bread.

At about exactly 1 year Rubi started cuddling. Not only does she love cuddling with us, but she will also cuddle with pretty much any soft surface in the house (i.e. stuffed animals, pillows, blankets, sweaters, daddy's leg). We've waited for a whole year for her to cuddle and now every time we sit on the floor Rubi has to lay on us for about a minute...she will then get up and crawl to the next soft surface to "rest".

Long weekend

RAWRR!

Rubi loves making everyone laugh...so daddy starting teaching her how to growl. I can't wait to pick her up from daycare one day and the teachers say..."well Rubi just kind of crawled around and growled at everyone today." What a kid!

oh no

Update: Rubi is back on strike. We tried the same thing she loved at dinner last night...which apparently doesn't taste so great two days in a row (which completely throws out our plan of buying nothing but mac n cheese until she turns 20). We also may have figured out why she has been so cranky...Rubi is getting what we think is her first molar...ouch!

Uncle Gage turns 18

Rubi & Uncle Jesse...I'm sure she'll like him at some point.

Happy 18th Birthday Uncle Gage!!

Rubi playing the "boy your food looks good" game with Uncle Tate (the game ends with you covered in food, if she ever wants to play this game with you...just walk away).

cause for celebration

While this is Rubi's usual dinner face...tonight was a little different.

At this point Rubi's "hunger strike" was hitting the two week mark. Living strictly on whole milk, water, bread, cheerios and puffs, we were willing to give this little girl anything if she would eat it. Cookies, ice cream, cake, pork chops... ANYTHING!!

as a last resort we tried these "big kid meals" made up of mac n cheese, carrots and peas...Neil and I laughed as we microwaved the blue tray and watched Rubi's face...

"pfffft i'm not eating that"

i handed her the fork and shoved a cheesy noodle in her mouth. She didn't gag, she didn't act as if i put a hot pepper in her mouth, and she didn't spit it out...she ate it!!!

to celebrate what we hope is the end of Miss Rubi Lyn's hunger strike we went to the park.

(P.S. sorry grandma this took so long)

Wednesday...

after a morning nap, we decided to try the beach & pool again...

after a few minutes Rubi started loving the pool...

and after about 20 tries to get Rubi into the surf, she warmed up the ocean!

I guess the second times the charm.
